If I wanted more fine-grained control over the loop there are buttons that will increase or decrease the size of the graphic which represents the loop. I found it easy to make speed adjustments on the fly as the track was playing. After setting start and end loop points with the mouse, clicking a single VCR style button will cause the loop to play repeatedly.

When the file or track is loaded it appears as a waveform in the bottom panel of the Riffmaster screen. The latter is a repository which provides easy access to files that are used a lot. Working with Riffmaster Pro I was able to load both mp3’s and audio cd tracks into the current selection and into the Riffmaster Pro media library. I found that flipping the eq settings can sometimes provide a useful way to make the track I was interested in stand out in the mix. The controls include a graphic equalizer which include several presets. Slider style controls allow the user to change playback speed, pitch and volume. It uses the ubiquitous VCR style buttons to play and stop your music. User Interface The Riffmaster Pro’s interface is simple and uncluttered. You should check the website for current system requirements and pricing for the version you are interested in. The software also comes in a Mac version and a version for the Iphone. After a short trial, I downloaded version 3.0.19 for Windows ($49). It can play that section at the recorded speed, or at slower speeds which the user can specify.

Riffmaster Pro is software which allows the user to load an audio file in a number of different formats, demarcate a discrete section of the song, and loop that section over and over again. Some riffs are just too fast to catch listening at regular speeds, and I found myself wishing for a way to slow down the music without changing the pitch.Įnter the Riffmaster Pro. I am self taught and I enjoy figuring out tunes by ear. I’ve been a guitar player for a long time.
